Crumbing Wall Repaired, Bonding Coat and Skim Applied

At Clarke Property Services, Property Maintenance specialists from Doncaster, no job is too big or too small. Here, we were asked to repair a crumbling wall. To do this, we first patch-worked the wall from the underlying brick, before applying a bonding coat. A bonding coat is the first coat, or underlay, of plaster. Once it is finished and begins to cure, it is scratched with a nail (which is why you can see lines in the photos). This is to give the coat a ‘key’, which allows for greater adhesion of the final skim coat onto the wall. Once this skim coat of plaster is applied, the wall is allowed to dry and is then ready to decorate.
